    A 78-year old Staffordshire man achieved one of his life’s ambitions when he took two John Deere tractors, spanning 50 years of production, for a spin at the company’s UK headquarters in Langar, Nottingham last month.

    John Deere Limited celebrates its 50th anniversary in the UK and Ireland in 2016, beginning with a special display at LAMMA in January. The company started trading from Langar in January 1966, and the original premises are still in use today as John Deere’s visitor centre and national parts distribution centre.

    The British Guild of Agricultural Journalists and John Deere Limited have announced the dates of this year’s training course for potential agricultural and horticultural journalists - Sunday to Tuesday July 12 to 14, 2015, plus three days’ work experience to be arranged for successful applicants.

    Twenty-seven year old James Marshall from Somerset is the 2014 winner of the annual British Guild of Agricultural Journalists Training Award, sponsored by John Deere Limited. This year's runner-up is Fiona Turnbull, a sheep farmer and part-time farming columnist from Kinross in Scotland, who won her place on the course through the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists’ 2014 Congress bursary, sponsored by Quality Meat Scotland.
  5. Chris Wiltshire

    Chris Wiltshire has been appointed the new branch tactical marketing manager at John Deere Limited, from 1st October 2014. Chris replaces Gordon Day, who has elected to retire at the end of September after 31 years’ distinguished service with the company. In his new role, Chris will be responsible for delivery of all John Deere’s agricultural and turf marketing programmes and activities in the UK and Ireland.
  6. Brian D’Arcy

    Brian D’Arcy has been appointed strategic account manager for turf and other non-agricultural equipment at John Deere Limited. He replaces Paul Trowman, who has recently taken up a new role within Deere & Company’s tactical marketing group in Region 2 (Europe, CIS, North Africa and the Near & Middle East).

  7. Smallridge Bros

    Devon and Cornwall based dealership Smallridge Bros Ltd has taken over the John Deere business previously managed by Robert Cole Agricultural Engineers Ltd at Holsworthy in Devon. The newly owned business continues to operate from the existing premises on the Holsworthy Industrial Estate, and joins the dealership’s two other outlets at Barnstaple in Devon and Callington in Cornwall.

    John Deere’s new mid-chassis 3R Series and large-chassis 4R Series compact tractors for 2014 replace the previous 3020 and 4020 Series models. A 3045R model can be seen for the first time in the UK on the Farol dealer stand (F35) at SALTEX 2014 in September, alongside other new machines from the John Deere golf and turf range.

    John Deere will be unveiling the new 1500 Series TerrainCut commercial front mower range for the first time in the UK at IOG SALTEX 2014 in September, on the Farol dealership stand (F35).

  10. John Deere classic
    21 July 2014

    Antony Scott has been appointed managing director for John Deere Limited in the UK and Ireland. He replaces Richard Johnson, who has been appointed marketing director for the Deere & Company global tractor platform and will move to the company’s regional headquarters in Mannheim, Germany.
