    The British Guild of Agricultural Journalists and John Deere Limited have announced the dates of this year’s training course for potential agricultural and horticultural journalists - Sunday to Tuesday July 10 to 12, 2016, plus three days’ work experience to be arranged for successful applicants.

    John Deere Limited celebrates its 50th anniversary in the UK and Ireland in 2016, beginning with a special display at LAMMA in January. The company started trading from Langar in January 1966, and the original premises are still in use today as John Deere’s visitor centre and national parts distribution centre.

    John Deere’s 1500 Series TerrainCut front rotary mower has won the Horticulture Week What Kit? Ride-On Mower of the Year Award 2015, announced in December. The mower was selected from a shortlist of eight machines that also included the John Deere X590 Multi-Terrain lawn tractor and ZTrak Z997R zero-turn mower.

    Twenty-four year old farmer’s daughter Melanie Jenkins from Monmouthshire is the 2015 winner of the annual British Guild of Agricultural Journalists Training Award, sponsored by John Deere Limited. This year's runner-up is agronomist Sam Deane, also 24, from Co Cork in Ireland.

    John Deere’s flagship 9620RX tractor and 8800i self-propelled forage harvester, range-topping 6155R tractor, PowrSpray solution system for R900i Series trailed sprayers and both entry level W-Series and redesigned T-Series combine harvesters are among the new machines for 2016 being featured for the first time on the John Deere stand at LAMMA in January, following their initial European launch at Agritechnica.

    John Deere Limited is sad to announce that Douglas M Walker, the company’s longest serving managing director from 1968 to 1993, has died at the age of 87, on Sunday 8 November. The funeral was held in Nottinghamshire on Wednesday 18 November at Bramcote Crematorium.

    Combining higher capacity mowing with premium cut quality and after-cut appearance, John Deere’s new 9009A TerrainCut rough mower is the latest addition to the company’s award-winning A Model family of fairway, rough and tees & surrounds mowers. It will make its UK public debut at BTME 2016 in Harrogate (19 to 21 January, stand M3).
