    PURCHASING A TRACTOR IS NOT A MATTER TO BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. Due to the considerable expense involved, price is often the purchasers main, if not, only concern. Whilst the cost of the equipment is always a relevant factor one shouldn’t overlook other key issues including warranty, fuel efficiency and resale value.

    Amidst the challenges in South African agriculture, the sector has been experiencing more than a decade of positive net farm income growth – 32%, in real terms, since 2006.

     

    This trend is expected to continue in the medium term, according to Jacques Taylor, Managing Director: John Deere Financial, Sub-Saharan Africa.

    A&T Division President of John Deere, Dave Everitt, met with Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) President Joseph Kabila earlier this summer during a visit to sub-Sahara Africa. Everitt also was on hand for the signing of a contract with our dealer Demimpex to deliver 1,500 tractors to the DRC government during the next three years.

    The John Deere Foundation is helping to provide access to financial services for farmers in Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda and Uganda with a $2.5 million grant to Opportunity International's "Banking on Africa" initiative, a savings-based microfinance service for entrepreneurs and farmers in developing countries.
